
Daniele Paolini is a PhD candidate at the Department of Political Sciences of the University of Perugia in cotutelle with the University of Leiden. He obtained his MA degree in Languages, Economies, and Institutions of Asia and North Africa at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice with a final thesis on the history of the Moroccan left. He was Erasmus student in France at the University of Lyon 2 (2017) and in the Netherlands at the University of Leiden (2020). He studied Arabic at Qalam Wa Lawh (Rabat, Morocco) and Ahlan Jordan (Amman, Jordan). His research interests include the political and economic history of the Arab region, authoritarianism and democratisation processes, state-society relations in North Africa and the Arab Middle East. He is currently working on a research project on the history of trade union organisations in post-independence Morocco.
